About Us
Who We Are
Our mission at PregSafe is to be your go-to destination for trying to conceive and pregnancy-safe products, wellness, and fitness. We hold the largest and most comprehensive database in the UK of ingredients to avoid or be cautious of when pregnant or trying to conceive. We are a scientifically backed resource for women looking for reliable and easy-to-understand product advice and safe ingredient checks. We enable you to focus on family planning without the stress of extensive research. Beyond this, PregSafe is fostering a supportive community where women can connect and share experiences.
PregSafe is born from personal experience and a wish to create a safer, simpler journey to parenthood. As a sufferer of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) our co-founder, Tanya, faced a number of challenges when trying to conceive. She wanted to switch to products that would improve her egg quality and fertility but she soon discovered how difficult it was to identify safe options. Hours of research were needed to navigate the complex and often conflicting information about potentially harmful ingredients like parabens and phthalates. With no single resource offering clear and quick product analysis, we envisioned a solution: PregSafe.
A Heads Up
While it’s impossible to remove all risks associated with man-made cosmetics and toiletries when pregnant or trying to conceive, particularly since these ingredients can’t be tested on pregnant individuals or babies, we’re here to guide you through making the safest possible choices.
At PregSafe, we class ingredients as unsafe when they may have adverse effects on your pregnancy or fertility for instance endocrine disruptors or carcinogens. We do not automatically class all irritants as unsafe for pregnancy and trying to conceive as they will not cause long term harmful effects for your future child or your fertility. However, we acknowledge the discomfort irritants and allergens cause and so you may find we highlight some products that contain these as ‘use with caution’. We advise you to always do a skin test.
We’ve set our own strict safety standards to define what ‘pregnancy safe’ means for us. While ‘absolute safety’ may not be achievable, you can trust PregSafe to significantly lower the risks and empower you with the most informed and health-conscious options available.
A Gentle Disclaimer
While we have set our own safety standards based on extensive research, these are subjective and not meant to replace medical advice. Always consult with your doctor or midwife before making changes to your routine or if you have any concerns.
